5 Questions to Ask a Potential Buyer’s Agent 

 

  1. How long have you been in the business? Sure, it’s possible to be a great agent right out of the gate—but like most things in life, wisdom and skill improves with experience. 

  2. How many clients are you working with right now? An agent who is spread too thin may not have as much time or bandwidth as you’d like to focus on your home search.  

  3. What neighborhoods do you specialize in? Make sure the agent is familiar with the areas you’re interested in, so they can weigh in with insights and advice they wouldn’t have otherwise. 

  4. What does your schedule look like? While it’s important for both parties to be somewhat flexible, it’s good to know right off the bat if weekends and evenings are on or off the table. Ask outright so you can be sure your own availability syncs up with theirs. 

  5. How (and how often) do you communicate with your buyer clients? It’s helpful to know what to expect in terms of mode and method of communication as well as how frequently the agent checks in with their clients. If you have your own preferences, make sure to communicate that, too.
